How these changes affect you:
- The most important change for customers, is the increased costs. Due to the new refrigerants flamability all new equipment will be required to have upgraded parts to reduce ignition sources. These parts are going to cause the cost of the equipment to increase by approximately 25%.
- Due to the rapid implementation of these rules, the current equipment is going to be scarce very quickly. Our suggestion to avoid these increased cost is to have a qualified technician evaluate the condition of your existing equipment.
- If your equipment is found to be in good shape, you may not have to worry about these increased costs right away. If your equipment is found to have issues that could cause your A/C to fail within the next few years, it’s time to replace it before the R410 equipment is gone.
- If your equipment is 10 years old or more, please consider replacement now and save yourself future costly headaches.
